Copyright is a legal right that automatically protects original work from the moment it is created.
It gives the creator exclusive control over how their work is used and prevents others from copying it without permission.
If your work is copied, you can take action against the party that has infringed your copyright, however you will need to prove the date it was created.
In copyright law, the word ‘original’ does not mean unique. The meaning is that the work ‘originates’ from the author and so reflects their own skill, labour, or judgment. A work that is merely copied from someone else fails this test and therefore isn’t considered ‘original’ for copyright purposes.
Protect My Work provides a timestamped digital certificate that helps demonstrate when your work was created and supports your claim of copyright ownership.
