Does Amazon KDP Request Proof of Copyright Ownership?
Before publishing on Amazon KDP, it’s essential to understand that Amazon can and does ask authors to provide proof of publishing rights or copyright ownership. According to Amazon’s own guidelines, KDP may require you to submit documentation showing that you have the right to publish your book. If you can’t provide this proof when asked, Amazon may delay or even unpublish your title.
By registering your book with Protect My Work, you’ll have independent, time-stamped proof of copyright ownership ready to present to Amazon or any other platform if needed. This ensures you can demonstrate your rights immediately — protecting your publishing income and avoiding unnecessary disruption.
Does Amazon KDP accept Protect My Work digital certificates?
Protect My Work is an independent copyright registration and proof-of-creation service. While we have no official relationship or partnership with Amazon KDP, we are aware—through multiple user experiences and public references—that our digital certificates have been accepted by Amazon KDP as valid supporting documentation in many cases.
Over time, we’ve received positive feedback from many authors and publishers who have successfully used their Protect My Work registration certificates to help resolve copyright or publishing issues raised by Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) team. In addition, several KDP training courses, YouTube tutorials, and publishing guides recommend registering your work with Protect My Work before submitting it to Amazon, as a reliable way to demonstrate authorship and originality.
Our certificates provide a verifiable, timestamped record of originality, securely stored and easily referenced, which can serve as credible evidence of ownership if your rights to a book, manuscript, or other creative work are ever questioned.
Example of Acceptance
As independent evidence, below is a real email exchange from Amazon’s Content Review Team confirming the release of a book after the author provided a Protect My Work registration link as proof of originality.

DO NOT DELETE THIS ACCOUNT PLEASE...
I will take care of things... does this mean I am allowed to put it back on the site?
This email is presented as solid proof from an actual Amazon KDP case in which our digital certificate was accepted as part of a successful resolution.
Summary
While Protect My Work is not officially affiliated with Amazon, our digital certificates have been repeatedly accepted as supporting documentation by Amazon KDP when authors are asked to prove originality. As long as your work is genuinely your own and not copied, your Protect My Work registration provides strong, credible evidence that can help demonstrate your rights of authorship and assist with the review process.
Important Notes
- Protect My Work cannot guarantee that Amazon KDP (or any other publisher or platform) will accept our certificates in every situation.
- Each case is reviewed individually by Amazon’s Content Review Team and depends on the originality and authorship of the material submitted.
- Our certificate supports your claim as the rightful creator, but final acceptance always rests with Amazon.
